Bloom Expansion Conflicts

As Bloom technology became the dominant way to turn asteroid material into habitable space, builders could create new places for people to live across the solar system. Whoever controlled permission to build, construction standards, and ownership claims could therefore decide where future populations could settle.
The Bloom Expansion Conflicts were the struggles over that control. Between 2700 and 2750, disputes over permits and technical standards ran alongside sabotage campaigns and fights over who could claim and restrict access to new habitat territory. Together they formed a rolling series of conflicts rather than a single war.
The major powers wanted different terms for expansion. Orbital Forge promoted open standards so frontier builders could adapt methods and improve them quickly. SolEx and allied bureaucracies sought tighter licensing and clearly established property rights. Aeronautics Unlimited wanted construction open enough to expand rapidly while retaining enough control over deployment to make it profitable.
No final settlement resolved those competing demands. The conflicts instead made territory across the solar system more mobile, fragmented, and politically volatile: building new habitats had become a means of creating territory, and control over that process remained contested.
