Food Security Wars

The Food Security Wars were conflicts over who could grow, protect, and distribute food during the late collapse. Farms and communes faced attacks on the water, seeds, crops, and transport they depended on. Keeping people fed required defending those systems, and keeping control of them determined whether a community could remain autonomous.
Deferred maintenance and climate instability made food production less secure, while the militarization of transport corridors threatened its delivery. Under these conditions, the ability to supply food independently became one of the few forms of power that media control and heavy weapons could not fully replace. Farms linked to the Aya Collective and the networks moving their produce became too important for other powers to ignore.
There was no single continuous front. Combatants blocked water supplies, sabotaged seeds, raided crops, and seized supplies and facilities as punishment; defenders escorted convoys and protected agricultural sites. Zhestokost repeatedly tried to bring autonomous food systems under its command planning. Aya and allied agronomists learned to defend greenhouses as if they were cities.
The wars did not bring peace. They deepened recognition across Sol that farms and food transport were strategic infrastructure: settlements depended on them to survive, and control over them shaped who could give orders.
