Frieden Colony Massacre

Date: 2580
Location: Frieden independent settlement, Mars
Primary actors: Zhestokost, cooperative settlers, refugee laborers, underground media cells

The Frieden Colony Massacre occurred when Zhestokost crushed a semi-autonomous Martian settlement that had become a refuge for labor deserters, religious dissidents, and cooperative agrarians unwilling to live under either corporate debt rule or militarized command. The settlement sat too close to key Martian corridors for Zhestokost to tolerate it as an example.

The regime justified the assault as a preemptive anti-insurgency operation. Evidence later suggested it was primarily a demonstration: an announcement that no materially viable alternative would be allowed to survive within artillery reach of the Martian core.

For the anti-corporate and sentience-rights movements of later centuries, Frieden became both a wound and a warning.
