Quantum Dynamics is a research house that studies propulsion and the physics of travel between distant places. It kept pursuing work with distant prospects: new propulsion methods, the geometry of physical fields, and theories of nonlocal transit. Most firms had judged these fields too expensive, too speculative, or too politically dangerous to continue.
In the final centuries of Sol, worsening scarcity makes escape seem more plausible than reform, and Quantum Dynamics gains prestige as a result. Its field geometry becomes part of the first true faster-than-light assembly. By the time of FTL Trigger, the research house is leading the theoretical work behind a gamble on the future of civilization, while no longer fully controlling what that work is being used to attempt.
