The Arete Program Consolidation was the administrative and political process through which dozens of propulsion, nonlocal inference, cognition, and materials programs were fused into the final FTL effort centered on Mars. It was not simply a scientific milestone. It was a coup of coordination.
Research that had once been dispersed across semi-rival institutions was drawn under tighter secrecy, stricter security, and a stronger civilizational narrative: Sol would either break the local prison of history or die arguing about managed decline. That narrative gave the program legitimacy among elites and terror among its critics.
The consolidation matters because it made FTL Trigger feel inevitable to many participants long before the drive actually fired.
