The Hedonists are a cultural movement devoted to seeking the most intense sensations possible. The movement grew out of immersive media, neural entertainment, and pharmacology, alongside a conviction: a brutal civilization owes the people living under it pleasure and intensity, even if it will not give them justice.
Hedonist culture can be playful, decadent, or liberatory. In the era of Wireheading, however, industries that turn pleasure into dependency exploit Hedonists with particular ruthlessness. The pursuit of intense experience makes them one of those industries’ most heavily exploited populations.
