Pragmatists are the administrators, engineers, and political realists who care less about purity than about preventing total systemic failure. They distrust ecstatic ideology, whether it arrives as liberation theology, aristocratic transcendence, or authoritarian certainty.
This makes them useful coalition partners and frustrating revolutionaries. Pragmatism often slows catastrophe. It also explains how many catastrophic systems survive as long as they do.
