Preservationists are a movement defending sentient beings’ dignity and continuity of existence, whether they are biological, digital, or uplifted. They argue that once a mind can suffer, remember, and make claims on others, it must not be treated as property. The form in which it exists does not remove those obligations.
The movement became a major moral force only after repeated scandals involving upload abuse, biodrone exploitation, and uplift repression. These made it harder to defend the belief that a being’s biological or technological form determines whether it deserves moral consideration. Preservationists connect that ethical argument to practical rescue work, making the movement one of the strongest links between defending sentient beings’ rights and helping them escape abuse.
