Species Controllers are a movement that argues for planned, supervised control of uplift and applied genetics. They believe these practices have consequences too important to leave to chance, an unplanned market, or the choices of the beings they create. In their view, intelligence should be organized into tiers and kept under supervision.
For created beings, this position means others claim the authority to decide how their intelligence is developed and managed. Species Controllers often call that authority stewardship: a responsibility to oversee those beings. The movement’s ethics guide many uplift labor systems, helping make it seem normal that some sentient beings should live under administration rather than determine their own lives.
